Work is continuing as part of the Brechin Townscape Heritage Initiative.
Works commenced on three priority project buildings in late 2010 and, since then, work on a number of the remaining buildings have commenced.
These buildings are as follows:-
33 High Street - Building repairs.
39 to 41 High Street - Building repairs to exterior of the two buildings.
45 to 47 High Street - Vacant property refurbishment. Work is being undertaken in two phases, beginning with roof repairs and is anticipated to be completed by November 2011. This building project is part funded through the Scottish Government Town Centre Regeneration Fund.
29-33 High Street - Vacant Property Restoration. This is a year long contract and essential structural work has now commenced.
The rear of the building requires underpinning which has had a knock-on effect to works at 25-27 High Street which will be delayed until the underpinning has been completed.
68-72 High Street (Merchant’s House) - Works are on site, and due for completion early 2012.
In addition to the priority projects, grants have been awarded for building repair works to two further High Street properties. Work is currently on site at 51-55 High Street.
Scaffolding to Merchant’s House (68-72 High Street) is currently being put in place. This will include the addition of a roof canopy to protect the roof timbers and ensure that delays due to poor weather are minimised.
Other THI Building Repair Projects which have been Awarded Grants and are due to go on site in 2011 are as follows:-
37 St David’s Street - Comprehensive building repair; Northern Hotel - comprehensive building repair; 2 Market Street (Clydesdale Bank building) - Stonework repair.
