One of the most inspiring and motivating hairdressers within the industry, Simon Shaw, European Artistic Director, Wahl (UK) Limited paid two lucky hairdressers a visit last week when he called in to Marie Church’s studio in Montrose Street, Brechin.

Hairdressers Marie Church and Linda Cook met Simon when they attended a course in cutting in Glasgow.

Simon takes part in hairdressing exhibitions, stage shows and seminars at the Wahl Academy and also makes regular appearances on a variety of TV shows and has also done hair for the X-factor.

As a result of this media work Simon’s clientele includes many TV, media and sports personalities.

They said: “Simon took our details at the course and said that he would get in contact with us.

“He contacted us to say that he had a free date for May 19 . He asked if we would like him to come up and do some training with us and he would show us techniques he was sure we wont have used before.

“He came up for a whole day and showed lots of techniques we can use.

“Most of the techniques we were shown were using clippers to cut and restyle hair and the results are amazing.

“Usually clipper cutting is associated with cutting the hair very short but with these techniques we use various clipper heads, razors or texture blades etc to produce the result you are after, from shorter squared shaped cuts for gents to soft textured layers for woman.

“We worked on six different models who had both long and short hair to see the results that can be achieved on various hair textures.

“We feel very privileged because he normally teaches courses at the Wahl Academy in London and travels abroad to teach.

“He is in Germany next week then Singapore and will be teaching over there for the next few weeks.

“It was such a fantastic experience and we got a lot of knowledge and techniques from his visit.”
