Richard Cooke, factor at Dalhousie Estate, Brechin, has ben elected as new chairman of the Association of Deer Management Groups.
Richard Cooke was appointed at the Association’s annual general meeting in Kingussie.
His election follows the decision by Robert Balfour, who has been chairman for the last six years, to step down once “he had seen the Wildlife & Natural Environment Bill through to a satisfactory conclusion for the deer sector.”
Richard, a chartered surveyor, has been resident factor at Dalhousie Estates, Angus, since 1989, as well as managing a number of other rural estates.
He is a member of the SNH Deer Panel, a former Deer Commissioner and Cairngorms Partnership Board Member.
He is currently chairman of the National Access Forum.
He was secretary of ADMG for 16 years and secretary of East Grampian Deer Management Group for 26 years.
