“Jimmie MacGregor - 80 Years Young” was broadcast on BBC on St. Andrew’s Night last year and revealed the length and breadth of the career of the legendary Scots entertainer.
Since then he has been on an extensive tour of Scotland with his one-man show to sell-out crowds and rave reviews everywhere he has gone, including a memorable event at Celtic Connections.
The Mearns Connections committee are delighted that Jimmie is including the Grassic Gibbon Centre in Arbuthnott on his travels. He will be appearing as part of the festival on Saturday, August 13 at 7.30 pm.
Many people will remember when Jimmie teamed up with Robin Hall in the fifties.
They appeared five nights weekly on the BBC’s Tonight show – for four years!
Hugely influential in the folk music revival, they toured the world appearing in countless venues from the Albert and Festival Halls to the smallest folk clubs.
With 20 albums to their credit, Jimmie and Robin Hall went on to host the White Heather Club and record the now legendary anthem single ‘Football Crazy’.
Latterly, Jimmie has composed theme music for radio and hosted the double award winning show Macgregor’s Gathering.
