None of us will easily forget Saturday, March 12!
The match had everything; thrills by the minute, penalties, shots against the post and bar, end to end action, a full house, mud and rain. All credit to both sets of players for such a great game.
It isn’t just the players who deserve the plaudits. It isn’t just the management, it isn’t even just the committee, it is the Brechin itself.
Where else will you get 80 volunteers to turn out to help clear a pitch with no notice and no reward?
Where else will you get the whole town behind a team as all the shops showed with their window displays and the local paper by its excellent coverage?
At a time when we cringe with embarrassment with some of the antics of others in Scottish football, Saturday showed what football and community spirit is all about.
Brechin City showed it by not charging season ticket holders, Brechin showed it in its passionate support.
Personally I am very proud to have been so fortunate to have been involved with Brechin City Football Club the past.
I am equally proud to be a Brechiner.
