In this month’s Library Corner, Brechin Library’s senior library assistant, Katy Hardie, takes a look at what is happening in spring.

Spring is in the air and it’s time to get back out into the garden. Brechin library has a host of excellent gardening Books for everyone, from the beginner with the smallest plot to the Polly tunnel expert.

We also have a collection of garden projects books for the DIY enthusiasts.

This year World Book Day is on Thursday March 5 when libraries all over the world join together to celebrate the wonder of books. This is the 18th year of World Book Day and thanks to the generosity of National Book Tokens Ltd millions of children will receive a book voucher to enable them to get £1 off any book costing £2.99 at any participating bookshop.

Brechin library will be holding competitions for children to guess how many pages the mystery book has. And for adults we are offering one lucky reader who visits the library on March 6 a signed copy of an Ann Cleeves mystery. So why not pay us a visit and take part.

For junior book lovers, the Library’s monthly Lego club for primary age children meets on Tuesday, March 10, at 3.45 p.m.

Chatterbooks Club, for boys and girls aged between eight and 12 years old, will hold its first meeting on Monday, March 23, at 4 p.m. Please bring along your favourite book or the book you are currently reading for our introductory session.

Children’s author Lindsey Gardiner will be visiting the library on Tuesday, March 24, to talk to children about her books and writing. Places are limited so please contact the library to reserve your place for this exciting opportunity to meet with this popular author.
