Time is running out to take advantage of the library fine amnesty in Angus Libraries, which ends this Saturday (March 8).
Library staff have already welcomed back nearly 300 members, waiving their fines in exchange for a donation of food for the Angus Foodbank.
Members who present their overdue books at any library in Angus before or on Saturday will have their overdue charges waived in exchange for a donation of food for the Angus Foodbank.
Members who have already returned their books previously, but have outstanding overdue charges will also have these fees waived in exchange for a donation of food.
One customer, who did not wish to be named, had previously been “too embarrassed” to visit the library while overdue fines were on her record but said that using the amnesty had given her a sense of relief and that she was looking forward to using the library again with her children.
Readers are especially invited to visit their library this week to check out the World Book Day (Thursday, March 6) celebrations.
