Angus Sports Awards - just over a week left for nominations

Angus Council Sports Development Team needs your nominations for the Angus Sports Awards 2012 in association with Angus Ahead.

The event is taking place on Tuesday, March 5 at the Reid Hall, Forfar.

The Angus Sports Awards 2012 are designed to honour those involved in sport across Angus from players, athletes and coaches through to administrators and volunteers.

Nominations are required in six categories: Sports Personality of the Year (sponsored by Auchterhouse Country Sports). This award aims to recognise the achievements of a top sports performer (aged over 18) in 2012 including performers that compete on paralympic and elite levels.

Young Sports Personality of the Year (sponsored by Radio Tay – Cash For Kids). This aims to recognise the achievements of a top junior sports performer (those who did not reach the age of 18 years by December 31, 2012) in 2012.

Coach of the year (sponsored by Coachingangus). This aims to recognise the achievements and commitment of a sports coach in 2012 and applies to coaches at all levels.

Service to Sport Award (sponsored by Angus College). This aims to recognise someone who has made an outstanding contribution to sport in Angus as administrator, official, coach or helper over a number of years.

Team of the Year (sponsored by McDonalds). This aims to recognise the achievements and commitment of a sports team/group in 2012 and applies to teams/groups at all levels.

Sports Personality of the Year Award for People with a Disability (sponsored by Angus Disability Sport in partnership with National Oilwell Varco). This award aims to recognise an individual with a physical, sensory or learning disability who took part in sporting activities in 2012. This award will only consider nominations for people below paralympic and elite levels.

Nominations can be submitted on-line at www.angusahead.com/sportsawards and forms, available from all Angus Council leisure facilities, can be returned to Colin Knight, Angus Council Sports Development Team, The Yard, Queenswell Road, Forfar, DD8 3JA by 5 p.m., on Friday, February 8.
