Award for Angus artist

A PAINTING by an Angus artist has won a top award at an exhibition of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour in Edinburgh.

Jim Dunbar, from Carnoustie, was awarded the Rendezvous Gallery Artist in Residence award for his painting, Winter Fields, Carlogie.

The accolade will allow him to experience a week painting a Tigh Alasdair Ruairidh, a renovated croft house at Garyvard on the Western Isles.

Jim said: “For the past five years I have been working on a series of landscapes based on fields by Carnoustie where I live.

“I’m delighted and very surprised at this award and am already looking forward to painting on Lewis.”

The exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy building, The Mound, Edinburgh, runs until March 24.
