Motorists in Brechin experienced long delays at the temporary traffic lights in East Mill Road after batteries caused the traffic lights to stop working correctly.
Stephanie Milne took to the Brechin Advertiser’s Facebook page to highlight the problem, posting: “Tonight coming home into Brechin from Montrose the traffic was at a stand still, the traffic was tailed from the lights at the top of East Mill Road right back to just before Lidl’s.
“All junctions through Brechin to Lidls where chok-a-block too as cars could not get out of them with the traffic tailed back.”
An Angus Council spokesperson said: “When the batteries are needing to be replaced, this can cause the lights to stick at one colour for longer than programmed. Upon receiving a telephone call from a member of the public, one of our engineers visited the site yesterday and replaced the battery.”
