A popular Brechin event that had to be cancelled due to lack of helpers last year is to make a comeback this year.
Bravo Brechin have stepped in and agreed to organise and run the Brechin Pageant. The event was previously organised by Brechin Round Table but a lack of volunteers last year resulted in it not happening.
Bravo Brechin hope the pageant will take place on June 7 to coincide with the Commonwealth Games and they are also hopeful that the event will once again become a permanent fixture on Brechin’s events calendar.
“The pageant is an institution for the town and it was a great shame when it had to tbe cancelled,2 said chairman of the Bravo group Bill Sturrock.
He said that on the day local bands would provide entgertainment and the City of Brechin Pipe Band would open the proceedings. He added there would be various games and highlights that focussed on the different countries in the Commonwealth and they were also keen to try to intoduce a taste tent where traditional cooking from other counttries could be sampled.
“We want to encourage a greater understanding of the role our country plays,” said Mr Sturrock.
