At a recent meeting of the Brechin Branch of the SNP, members discussed the success of the pre-Christmas Fair at the City Hall.
Members of the public were able to shop at over 20 craft, charity and local groups’ stalls offering a wide range of locally produced items and foods.
Organiser David Smart commented: “It was one of our most successful to date with everyone including the stall holders having an enjoyable fair.
“Our thanks go to everyone one who helped in its success.”
Members also discussed the forthcoming Scottish Government White Paper on the Referendum and urged everyone to begin to engage with this important constitutional decision.
Convenor Jim Houston commented: “The White Paper will provide an opportunity for everyone to find out the Scottish Government’s position and proposals for an independent Scotland following a YES vote and how it will affect our day to lives.
“I would encourage everyone to find out all they can about the debate so they can make an informed decision as to how they wish to vote.”
Members praised the work of the Brechin Retailer’s group BRAVO, commenting on the number of tremendously successful events that they had staged throughout this past year – from the Easter In The City event to the recent Christmas Lights switch-on.
They also commented on the most recent and successful addition of the Brechin Music Festival and praised the members of the Music Fest committee for their hard work.
Mairi Evans said: “They have put Brechin “on the map” and helped to highlight the positive aspects of the city and have generated a real “buzz” not only locally also promoting Brechin further afield.”
A spokesperson for the group added: “Finally we would like to wish all our supporters and friends a Merry Christmas and offer our best wishes for the year ahead.”
