Brechin and Area branch SNP march for Independence

AT THEIR recent monthly meeting members of Brechin and Area branch SNP took a moment to remember Doug Hutchison who died recently.

Convener Jim Houston commented: “Doug was a stalwart of the branch and could be counted on whenever there was work to be done whether it was delivering leaflets or helping out at branch fund-raisers.

“He spread the SNP message far and wide and he will be sorely missed by the branch.”

At the time of the meeting members were looking forward to attending the March for Independence in Edinburgh which has since taken place on Saturday, September 22, from The Meadows to Princes Street Gardens.

They were joined by members who travelled by bus from across Angus North and Mearns Constituency Association and met like-minded people from across the whole of Scotland.

With the Annual National Conference to be held in Perth from October 18 to 21, members agreed they were looking forward to the debates on the issues in the agenda.

There will be the usual good attendance from Brechin delegates.

Social organiser David Smart advised members on progress so far on the arrangements for the Autumn Craft Fair on November 17.

Crafters who have already booked tables are from Angus and the Mearns and the proceeds from the Bake Stall will be going to CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association Scotland). David advised that there were currently a few spaces available and asks that any crafter who would like a table contact him on 01356 626688 for further details.
