Brechin Arms finds new owner

ONE of Brechin's most popular pubs has found a new owner, following the news that licensed property agents, Christie and Co, has sold the freehold interest in the Brechin Arms to local businessman, Kevin Mackie.

The traditional St David's Street pub contains a single main bar, small snug and trade kitchen on the ground floor and two-bedroom owner's accommodation on the first floor.

Christie and Co director, Ken Sims, commented: "The Brechin Arms is one of a number

of properties being sold by Christie and Co on behalf of Pubfolio Limited across Scotland,

England and Wales.

"Pubfolio has taken the decision to dispose of these sites in order to focus on expanding other areas of its 500-strong public house portfolio.

"We are delighted to have quickly sourced a local buyer for the Brechin Arms, which came onto the market in June. Kevin Mackie, who owns the Northern Hotel in Clerk Street, is pleased to be expanding his business interests in the town.

"The Brechin Arms has been purchased as an investment and a long lease has been agreed with the current tenants to continue with the day-to-day running of the business."

The pub was sold for an undisclosed figure after Christie and Co sought 185,000 for the freehold interest
