Brechiners to benefit from ‘Survive and Thrive’

DJ LAING has secured funding from Angus Council as part of the ‘Survive and Thrive’ initiative, which was created to support house buyers and the local construction industry.

This is great news for those wishing to buy their first home with only a small deposit. The joint venture allows selling prices to be reduced by up to 25 per cent with a further 20 per cent provided as an interest free loan, for up to 10 years.

Applicants must consist of a minimum two person household, living or working in Brechin or Edzell with a maximum household income of £40,000.

The initiative was devised by Angus Council to kick start the local construction industry and increase economic activity, whilst creating employment and training opportunities in Angus.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Angus Council to deliver affordable housing and are grateful for their support to our industry in the current economic times” said sales director Karen Nicoll.

The funding will allow DJ Laing to complete the previously mothballed site at Braeview Park in Brechin. Work has already started on the nine homes and four different house designs offer spacious accommodation and outstanding value for money.

The two bedroom bungalow is available at a fixed price of £95,000, with 20 per cent of the purchase price funded by Angus Council for 10 years [interest free]. Three bedroom homes were originally priced at £160,000 but have now been reduced to £120,000 with 20 per cent of the price [£24,000] provided interest free for up to 10 years.

Four bedroom homes are also available at a fixed price of £145,000. All properties will be ready to move into before Christmas.

As with most new homes, buyers will benefit from a 10 year NHBC Guarantee and double glazing. The latest gas central heating system and insulation will also ensure reduced energy bills. For further information on all the developments, please contact D J Laing Homes on 0845 257 2290.
