Christingle service to mark "light in the world"
A Christingle service will be held in the St. Andrew's Church this Sunday from 4pm.
Organised by Brechin Churches Together the service will be based on ancient customs - including the giving of a Christingle, an orange with a candle in it.
"The orange represents the world, and around it are raisins, nuts and sweets speaking of God's gifts in the fruits of the earth," said a spokesperson.
"On the top is a candle symbolising Jesus, the light of the world. The idea is that people take home their Christingle and light the candle again on Christmas Day as a reminder that the birth of Jesus brings light and hope to our world.
"So whatever your age, come and join in this service, as a joyful beginning to the Christmas celebrations," they added.
There will be a collection at the event for the Aberlour Trust, a charity for children in Scotland.
