Don wants flood prevention top of agenda
Flood prevention and insurance should be top of the agenda to support householders who are victims of the recent floods says Nigel Don MSP for Angus North and Mearns.
Mr Don has asked Environment Minister Paul Wheelhouse to ensure the Brechin Flood Alleviation Scheme is fast tracked through his office. Mr Don also called for the insurance issues of his constituents in Stonehaven to be addressed as speedily as possible to avoid further misery.
He said: “It’s imperative the endless consultations stop and work starts, some of my constituents homes are uninsurable and won’t be insurable until the flood prevention works in Brechin and Stonehaven are complete.
“In the case of Brechin I am assured by the Minister he will get his team on the case. Mr Wheelhouse’s office is also looking into the issues around making insurance affordable for Stonehaven residents.”
Early today (Tuesday, January 8), Brechin Councillor Mairi Evans tweeted: “Brechin flood prevention scheme has just been granted planning permission by Development Standards Committee, one step closer!”
