Brechin Cathedral brought Guild week to a close by conducting morning worship on Sunday, November 24.
The Guild theme for this year is ‘A fellowship to build’.
Marchia May, vice-president, using the national theme pack, was instrumental in putting the service together. The aim was to keep the service as informal as possible.
Two short plays were used; illustrating a modern recipe for working together, and how things don’t always have to been done as they have been in the past.
The week before the Guild members had been challenged to give ideas for ‘Fellowship’. These were used to give a mission statement of what the Guild will try to achieve over the coming year.
Alice McIntosh, guild president, would like to thank Evelyn Simpson, who took part in the plays and sang a solo and also Isobel Shearer and Margo Brown who participated.
The congregation was invited to join us after the service to taste ‘scripture cake’ taken form various bible verses.
On Tuesday, November 26, the speaker was Mary Reid, council secretary, who gave us a most interesting account of her life in the Guild.
Also present was Moira Scott, Angus West Presbytery Council convenor, who was made most welcome.
