Last chance to submit short story

Following the reminder from the organisers that entries for the Tartan Treasures short story competition must be submitted by Thursday, March 7, any budding, novice or non-professional writers who have not yet submitted their Tartan Treasures story should speed up their scribbling, type a little faster – or dig a little deeper for the inspiration required!

This new short story competition, which is part of the Tartan Day Scotland Festival 2013, is open to all ages, with categories for adults (1500-2000 words), secondary school pupils (750-1000 words) and primary school pupils (500-750 words).

All stories submitted must reflect the theme of the competition - ‘Tartan Treasures’, and primary and secondary school pupils are provided with the opening paragraph, which focuses on an old but cherished tartan rug.

Following the March 7 closing date, a panel of judges will select a winning tale from each category.

The three winning authors will each be presented with an Amazon Kindle at a special ceremony at the start of the Tartan Day Scotland Festival and their stories will be published in the local Angus County Press newspapers, and, after being filmed being read by professional storytellers, will feature on the Tartan Day Scotland Facebook page and at www.tartandayscotland.com.

To submit a story to the Tartan Treasures competition, visit www.tartandayscotland.com/treasures or pick up a Tartan Treasures competition leaflet at libraries, museums, leisure centres and ACCESS offices across Angus.
