Local women raise over 5k in the 10k

JUST A week after one of the hardest-hitting budgets in living memory Brechiners have once again displayed their generosity by donating a huge amount of money for one of the nation's most deserving causes.

The cash has been raised largely through the magnificent efforts of eleven local women, who have all done their bit to raise as much cash as possible despite the on-going recession.

Anne Leiper, Sheila Brown, Linda Southam, Sheena Laird, Sheena McPherson, Ray Christie, Jill Keith, Joyce Ellis, Louise Bruce, Valerie Smart and Helen Wilson are all members of the Joyce Cromar Cardio Exercise classes who have previously raised and donated much-needed funds for local charities and this year has proved to be no exception.

Joyce Ellis explained: "We were delighted to raise a sum of 5042 in sponsorship and donations.

"We want to say a very special thank you to all those who gave so generously in supporting our effort in the Cancer Research 10k "Race Foe Life", which was held in Dundee's Camperdown Park recently."

As well as providing dance tuition for tots to teens, Joyce runs two cardio exercise sessions each week.

The Thursday evening class is held in Brechin between 7 pm and 8 pm, while the Friday class meets between 1 pm and 2 pm in Edzell.

A few places are still available in both the dance and excercise groups. Anyone interested in joining either the dance tuition or cardio exercise groups should contact Joyce on 07803 176 656 for more information.
