MAJOR JOBS BLOW AS FORFAR ENGINEERING COMPANY GOES INTO LIQUIDATION
FORFAR has been dealt a major jobs blow with the news that long-established engineering firm Ross & Bonnyman has gone into liquidation.
Employees of the firm were called together on Friday morning to be told the grim news that they no longer had a job.
It is understood that around 80 jobs have been lost at the firm based in Roberts Street, Forfar, and which specialised in the design and manufacture of lifting solutions.
Ross and Bonnyman has operated at various sites Forfar for almost 40 years.
However, lack of cash flow is believed to be behind the company’s more recent problems, resulting in the decision to call in the liquidators.
The news of the Ross & Bonnyman closure comes just two days after a planning proposal to develop a supermarket site at Pathhead on the southern outskirts of nearby Kirriemuir was given thew green light by Angus Council, a decision that could lead to the creation of 200 jobs in the retail sector.
