Brechin City Youths football team is currently preparing for the start of the new season which is due to begin for them on August 24.
This year they will have Under-13s, 14s, 16s and 17s teams competing in the Dundee and District League.
Club chairman Clark Renilson said that as part of the development of the club an amateur team had also been formed for the first time in the club’s history with the aim of providing football for youths in the community when they have reached the maximum age group as well as for other players.
“Brechin City Amateurs will compete in the Midlands Amateur League on a Saturday under the management of John King who is also a coach with the youths,” said Mr Renilson.
He said that they were keen to extend an invitation to any players in the community who would be interested in participating in training with a view to joining the team.
“As well as the 11-a-side teams Brechin City Youths provides development football for younger children with the seven-a-side season running from March to November. There are now around 200 young people playing football as part of the club.”
