New year arrival for local couple
BRECHIN couple Joanne Ross and Richard Sellar's daughter Courtney had the honour of being the first new arrival at Montrose Maternity Unit for 2008.
Courtney, who weighed in at 7lb 3oz, was delivered in the centre's birthing pool at 6.11am on New Year's Day, just half an hour after her mum had first settled into the water.
And the smooth delivery was welcome news for Joanne, who had been prevented from giving birth to Courtney's 14-month-old brother Bradley in the same pool due to complications.
"It was much better this time," said Joanne. "It was nice. There were complications last time and I had wanted to try the pool again, but it was fine this time around.
"Courney's been fine since the birth and is sleeping fine. She is a very quiet baby," she added.
