No slip up against vaults

Northern Vaults have inflicted Fordouns only league defeat of the season thus far and were looking to further dent the home sides title challenge when they travelled to the Galaxy Bowl on Tuesday night.

Fordoun went in front when Derry Simpson put in a great cross and Kevin Hector headed back across goal before a diving header from Craig Thomson finished the move. Then after some great defending Nathan Keddie was set free and rounded the keeper to make it 2-0 to the home side.

Fordoun’s lead was halved when Kevin hector conceded a free kick inside his own half and the Vaults floated the ball into the box where the unfortunate, if not consistent, James Mennie headed into his own goal Mr Mennie blamed the error on the King Rib supper he enjoyed pre match having expected to be in goal.

Fordoun restored their two goal lead after half time when Darren Cruickshank scored a great individual goal, taking on 3 players before going 1 on 1 and finishing well. Darren Cruickshank was now in the mood for more and got his second of the game when he was sent clean through on the visiting keeper and slotted home to make it 4-1. Northern Vaults pulled one back in the 78th minute and scored again in the 83rd minute to make it an interesting finish but Galaxy held on to seal the points.
