Partnership decide upon new priorities
THE City of Brechin and Area Partnership is set to look to civic pride, tourism and environmental improvements as part of its new list of priorities.
At last week's meeting of the group, a large turnout agreed on the path the partnership will take in the years ahead.
Among the projects set to be high on the partnership's to do list are leaflets and brochures promoting the area as a tourist destination, and work to reintroduce and reinvigorate events designed to encourage local pride, such as the civic week.
They are also hoping to improve entrances to Brechin, such as the roundabouts off the A90 dual carriageway, and work to encourage green energy use in the area.
These priorities were decided upon after the group whittled down a number of possibilities from earlier brainstorming sessions at previous meetings.
Cross-overs
A number of ideas were thrown out due to cross-overs with other groups or authorities such as police matters, or improvement of the local primaries - an issue which it was felt could only be fully dealt with by the council and central government.
Other ideas were discounted as they failed to deal with the whole area or were too Brechin-centric and failed to include other local settlements such as Edzell, Aberlemno or the glens.
A number of sub-groups were then set up to look into some of the new priorities and how they can be promoted.
The next City of Brechin and Area Partnership meeting will be held at the Damacre Centre on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 7pm.
