Dog owners, who have allowed their dogs to foul on a Edzell path, have been asked to pick up after their pets.
The path that takes you from Edzell High Street, past the Panmure Hotel and to the river bank has been highlighted as being “almost completely overgrown” and as a result a collection of dog mess has been allowed to amass.
It has been suggested by members of the Inveresk Community Council, who heard how the area was so overgrown you had to push through the weeds to get along it, and because of this, dog owners have been leaving their dogs’ mess on the path.
Despite the condition of the path it is still a well used walkway and walkers are disgusted about the mess that has been left.
Owners who do not pick up after their dogs risk a £40 on-the-spot penalty fine, which authorised council officers and the police are empowered to issue.
Anyone who witnesses dog fouling should report it. If you know the person’s name and address you can report it confidentially at any police station or to ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778.
Dog owners can dispose of their dog poo bags, not just in designated dog poo bins, but in any public litter bin.
