Reports of diesel fuel theft in Little Brechin

Sometime about Monday, October 1, a Nissan Micra car had its paintwork scratched while the vehicle was parked and unattended within Lidl’s car park, Commerce Street, Brechin.

About 11.45 p.m. on Friday, October 26, the outer pane of a double glazed living room window of a ground floor flat was broken by someone throwing a glass tumbler at it. The property is in Montrose Street, Brechin. Persons were heard outside the property at the time.

A cottage in the Menmuir area was broken into between 12.30 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, and 7.45 a.m. on Monday, October 29. A number of nails and two Paslode nail guns were stolen. Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been offered such items for sale.

Police have received reports of thefts of diesel which have occurred overnight (Monday, October 29, into Tuesday, October 30) and over the weekend in the Little Brechin and Menmuir areas. This has been from tractors and fuel cans were also stolen. Police are asking for the public to contact them any time suspicious persons or vehicles are seen in rural areas. They are appealing for witnesses or for anyone with any information to contact them either at Brechin Police Office or by calling 0300 111 2222 or anonymously on the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

Current lost property at the Brechin Police station includes a man’s engraved wedding band and two sets of keys handed in from the Brechin Leisure Centre. One set has been in the office since July 2. It has a bottle opener attached. Other items include another set of keys and part of a scooter.
