Rotarians treated to Scapa Flow talk

BRECHIN Rotary Club was fortunate to have Orcadian Ned Firth at their meeting last week.

The inclement weather ensured that there were just a few hardy souls there, but Ned treated them to one of his detailed and interesting accounts of the history of Scapa Flow.

His profound knowledge of matters Orcadian are well known, and he took the Rotarians on a journey from the days of King Haakon to the sinking of the Royal Oak via, in particular, the scuttling of the German High Fleet.

Rotarian Charlie Allison gave Ned a vote of thanks for coming on such a wintry evening and bringing to life events of the past.
