Scottish Water will soon be starting work in Brechin to flush the water mains around the town throughout the night.
The work is planned to take place Monday to Friday, from April 7 for approximately five weeks. The flushing work, carried out by Morrison Construction on Scottish Water’s behald, will be carried out each night between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Allan MacDonald, project manager, said: “Flushing helps to clean the inside of a water main by flushing water through at an increased flow for a set period of time. To carry out this work we operate selected fire hydrants.
“Although this work does not involve any interruptions to supply, we do advise that during periods of flushing customers do not flush toilets or use appliances such as washing machines and showers etc. To minimise the impact of this work to customers we will be carrying out the flushing during the night.
“During this work it is likely that local people will also experience some discolouration to the water supply. We advise that each morning customers check the water at their kitchen tap and, if discoloured, run the tap until clear and continue to use as normal.”
Scottish Water would like to thank locals for their understanding and cooperation during these essential works. For queries about this work, call the customer helpline on 0845 601 8855, quoting reference “Capital/401294/MRN”.
