Brechin Churches Together is holding a Vigil Service for Peace on Sunday, August 3, at 6 p.m. in Brechin Cathedral to mark the centenary of the outbreak of World War One.

The theme will be “The lights are going out over Europe”, reflecting Sir Edward Grey’s words on that fateful day in 1914.

A spokesperson for the event said: “Our guest preacher will be Rev. Dr. Marjorie MacLean, LLB, BD, PhD, RNR of Abernyte linked with Inchture and Kinnaird, linked with Longforgan. All are welcome. Veterans are invited to attend wearing medals.”
