Six penalty points and £200 fine for a driver

A 23-year-old Brechin man was fined £200 and had six penalty points added to his driving licence when his case was heard at Forfar Sheriff Court.

Connor Paton, whose address was given in court as 83 Market Street, Brechin, pleaded guilty to using a motorcycle in Union Street, Brechin on February 2, 2014, without insurance, contrary to the Road Traffic Act 1988.

Mrs Hazel Anderson, Depute Fiscal, told the court that Paton, who did not attend the hearing, had been driving a motorcycle when he was drawn to the Police’s attention.

The court heard that he had received the motorcycle from his father, but has since got rid of it.
