Tayside Police seize £100,000 worth of cocaine and heroin in Brechin
TAYSIDE Police have netted their biggest ever drugs haul in the Brechin area after seizing £100,000 worth of cocaine and heroin on Friday from a house and vehicle.
The six figure haul of Class A drugs were secured by Tayside Police officers working closely with the Scottish Crime & Drug Enforcement Agency which resulted in the arrest of 4 people.
Two local men aged 49 years & 27 years, as well as a local woman aged 36 years and a 23 year old man from Liverpool were arrested and are expected to appear before the Sheriff Court in Forfar on Monday.
Tayside Police officers supported by officers from the SCDEA have been working tirelessly together to stem the flow of controlled drugs into communities in Angus. It is hoped that the seizure & arrests sends out a clear message that drugs trafficking often associated with the activities of serious organised crime groups will not be tolerated.
Detective Inspector Stuart Holmes, Head of Tayside's Drugs & Surveillance Branch, said, " Regular public consultation with Tayside Police reveals that people in communities want & expect the police to make every effort to make communities safer by removing the drugs dealers from our streets and reducing the flow of drugs into our communities.
"Serious organised crime groups use the trafficking of controlled drugs to gain power and profit. This joint operation is a fine example of partnership working between Tayside Police and the SCDEA which has resulted in the arrests & seizure yesterday, and I hope this goes some way into reassuring the communities across Angus and the East of Scotland that we will not tolerate it.
" I want to take this opportunity to again re-assure the people of Tayside that my officers and the whole Force is 100% committed to doing everything possible to remove the scourge of class A drugs from our streets and improving public safety in local communities. Drug dealing is a vile trade which has catastrophic effects on people, families and communities. Working together with public support we will robustly enforce drugs legislation at every opportunity to try to ensure that people can go about their lawful daily business without suffering from the fear of drug-related crime.
"Where we have information that drug dealing is taking place we will always act, it is a top priority for us and I appeal for the public to provide us with every piece of information they may have to allow us to help to make communities safer and better protected from the threat, harm and risk caused by serious organised criminality associated with drugs trafficking."
