LAST Saturday, August 18, The Glade Care home in Brechin held it’s first ever dog show.

Dogs and owners were involved in a host of activities including obedience and retrieval. There was even an agility test that involved dogs overcoming a total of 10 obstacles.

All those who took part received a flavoured tennis ball, with all winners received a rosette and toy as well. The full list of winners are as follows:-

Agility: Pepper, a mixed breed; Waggiest Tail: Mia, a fox red Labrador; Cutest dog: Buster, a Chihuahua; Obedience: Bengi, a Labradoodle; Retrieval: Shadow, a black Labrador; Best overall Dog in show: Alfie, a Norfolk terrier.

Dog owners even had the opportunity to win, with Hayley Fraser (9) and Chelsee Walker (8) named joint winners of the ‘Best Dog Handler’ category. Hayley handled Alfie, who was named best overall dog in show and Chelsee handles Buster, who won the cutest dog title.

A spokesperson for the Glade said: “The residents, families, friends and staff had a great time, the Obedience test didn’t go quite to plan for all dogs, and at one point we had eight people chasing a very large Retriever Doodle around the lawn trying to catch him, and Buster the Chihuahua thought he was the largest dog there.

He added: “Thanks to Mary Grey for presenting all the prizes.”
