The stage is set for this years’ Edzell Gala Week with the festivities due to kick off with the gala day on Saturday (August 2)
Discussing the plans for the gala day a spokesman said it was sure to be a great family day out and entry was free and lots of fun would be had.
One of the highlights of the day will be the crowning of local girls as the Gala Queen and her attendants. This will take place just before noon and will be followed by the fancy dress parade. Mearns Pipe Band will lead the procession from the hall to Edzell Muir.
Other main events throughout the day include children’s mini Highland games and races, face painting, ferret racing, a display by the Riders of the Storm and displays of chainsaw carving and from Angus Dog Activity Club.
There will also be stalls from the RNLI and the Fire Brigade will be on hand to demonstrate their equipment.
A bouncy castle is available for the children and teas and coffees will be served throughout the day in the church hall. If gala-goers are still hungry after that there will be a barbecue with tasty local burgers on offer.
There will be a wide range of other stalls from other local business and crafts people and various other attractions.
Events continue through the week with a bingo evening on August 6 and flower and vegetable show on August 10.
