Top award for Jessie

Stracathro volunteer Jessie Phillip from Forfar has taken third place in the International Journal of Palliative Nursing Awards held in London.

She was nominated for the award by Susan Hamill, Angus voluntary services manager with NHS Tayside, for her voluntary work at the Macmillan Daycare Centre at Stracathro Hospital and as a palliative care befriender for Lippen Care at Strathmore Hospice.

Susan said, “We felt that Jessie deserved to be nominated for this prestigious award as, despite being 84 years old herself, she continues to volunteer and help others.She has been volunteering for 18 years,” said Susan.
