Angus Environmental Trust is to launch their 2016/17 funding programme this Friday (April 1)

The Trust distributes funds raised through landfill tax contributions, helping community groups, organisations and other environmental bodies take forward their community and environmental projects within Scotland.

The Trust’s Chairperson Shona Smith commented: “We’re very excited about launching our new funding programme. We would especially welcome applications from communities wishing to set up recycling or re-use projects, or projects improving people’s environments or natural habitats. It would also be good to see some applications for restoring unused or unloved pieces of ground for example for community gardens.”

The Trust is also seeking a new director. Expressions of interest are sought from individuals or nominees from organisations willing to give some of their time, energy and experience to help us distribute Scottish Landfill Communities Fund money to eligible projects.

The Trust meets about five times a year, during the day in Forfar.

A Trust spokesperson said: “While this position is unpaid and voluntary, it is a very rewarding role. Interested? Send us a message at or please share to help us find our new Director!”
