The 12th annual Angus Glens Walking Festival has been launched this week and the full programme and booking is now available online.
The four day walking festival is being held from Thursday, June 5, to Sunday, June 8, and offers a packed and varied programme, with something to suit everyone.
A lot of ‘old favourites’ are still in the programme, such as Jock’s Road which is being run twice again this year to give double the amount of walkers the chance to take on this challenging but iconic ancient right of way.
The Festival programme also contains a number of new walks to give regular walkers something new to see and do.
“Once again we have pulled together a fantastic programme of walks for this year’s festival”, said Tom McGrath, chair of the Festival.
“There are some excellent opportunities for walkers to see some of the area’s wildlife, such as the Stalker Outing where Andy Malcolm from Dalhousie Estates will hopefully be able to spot wild Red Deer in Glen Esk.
“There is also a walk where an Angus Council Ranger will take you to a vantage point in Glen Clova where breeding Golden Eagles are often spotted, and hopefully you will have the chance to see them too.”
Tom continues: “All walks in the programme are graded from all ability to extremely strenuous so you can choose walks which are best suited to your own level of fitness.
“Visit the website for more guidance, and if you are not sure, please contact us.”
All walkers can go along to the ceilidh on the Saturday evening at Kirriemuir Town Hall which is also used as the Festival event centre. Last year this was a resounding success.
