Organisers Sustainable Kirriemuir have been collecting surplus fruit for the event, which is part of its continuing Nourish Project.

The two-year project is dedicated to cutting local food waste by six tonnes, growing two tonnes of food locally and engaging 500 people in the climate emergency.

It was borne out of an increasing interest in the town to better value resources, live lighter on the planet, tackle climate change and ensure sustainability for future generations.

It also provides the public with information to make more sustainable choices and the annual Apple Day raises awareness of seasonality.

Those attending will have the chance to buy some Kirrie Apple Juice and take home a free recipe kit of their choice, including all of the ingredients needed to make a delicious apple crumble.

There will also be face painting and the chance to go on a fantastic treasure trail around the town.

The Apple Extravaganza will be based at the Guide Hall, on the Roods, between 11am and 3pm. Surplus apples can also be donated at the Roods Co-op Kiosk.
