Locals help trace relatives

LOCALS in Brechin have been thanked by an ex-pat living in Australia for their help in tracing her family.

Hilda Dearden, originally from Dundee, had been looking for information on her great grandmother, Mary Bearn, and her grandmother Christina Middleton.

Hilda said: “I was contacted by Keith Parsonson and his wife Ruth, who used to live next door to Ron Bearn and his sister Wilma, who it turns out I am related to. I was then put in touch with Ron and discovered I have a relative in England who works as a chaplain to the Queen.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for their help. It has been a great result and I am absolutely over the moon with it.”

Hilda has added that she plans to keep in touch with her new Brechin relatives, and even hopes to travel to Brechin in order to visit the area her great grandmother originates from.
