A Montrose cancer support fund-raising committee is confident that their summer fair will bring their total funds raised to over £100,000.
The Macmillan Cancer Support committee, which has been fund-raising since 2000, are set to hold a Macmillan Midsummer Madness event on Saturday (June 22).
The event, a family fun day, takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Renmure, in the grounds of Kescoweth.
It will feature children’s games, dog show, sideshows, and raffle, plus more. Music will be provided by the Montrose Town band and a micro light fly past is scheduled for around 2 p.m.
Committee secretary Dominic Houlihan said: “We are all very excited about this great new event and the possibility that we can smash the landmark figure of £100,000.
“Last year alone, this group raised over £9,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support so we are optimistic that local support will help us to reach our target on the longest day.”
Macmillan’s fund-raising manager for Angus, Shirlie Geddes, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Montrose Committee for holding the Midsummer Fair to raise money for us.
“It is a really fun event that will help a serious cause. We could not offer the much needed support we do without this kind of help. Over 5,000 people in this area are living with a cancer diagnosis; the money raised by the Montrose Committee will ensure Macmillan can be there for them when they need us most.”
