Mrs Mary Anderson, who resides at Balhousie Glens Nursing Home, Edzell, celebrated her 100th birthday last Sunday.

She was born on September 25, 1915.

Mrs Anderson is a native of Glass, between Huntly and Dufftown in Aberdeenshire, and was one of a family of seven.

After she left school she became a nanny at ‘the big house’ at Glass and remained there until her marriage.

The family moved south where Mr Anderson worked as a guard at the Ministry of Aviation.

Mr and Mrs Anderson have two sons, Donald, who lives locally, and Douglas, who visited from New Zealand.

There are seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs Anderson lived in Inglis Court for a number of years, and has been a member of the local church group.

We asked Donald what his mother’s hobbies were, and he replied: “Her family!”
