A Brechin boy was among 13 food lovers to attend Graham’s The Family Dairy’s 2015 Children’s Tasting Panel at the Airthrey Kerse Farm in Bridge of Allan.
Rowan Lyon (7) was selected as Master Milk Monitor for the panel, which took place on April 25.
The children were able to tour the work family dairy seeing how their milk, butter and ice cream is produced while also meeting the farm’s hens, ducks and Jersey cows. The group then got down to the important business of tasting Graham’s award-winning butter, cream, cheese, ice cream and milk products before heading home laden down with delicious goodies and a certificate.
Carol Graham, marketing director, said: “It has been fantastic to meet our new young panel tasters for 2015 along-with their parents. The children were very engaged during every aspect of the day and particularly loved seeing the animals and hearing about the cow to kitchen journey of all the dairy products they eat on a regular basis. We hope their experience has increased their understanding of where their food comes from.
“The visit to Graham’s farm and dairy was just the start of their tasting panel journey as our new panel tasters have now been tasked to send us their ideas for products and recipes on a quarterly basis as part of their role. The children will also be one of the first people to sample new products as they are launched so their feedback will be really important to us.”
