A 19-year-old Brechiner has put his studies on hold to allow him to serve a mission for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Michael Jamieson, a member of the Montrose branch of the church, has worked to help fund his mission through a variety of jobs, including working as an au-pair in Switzerland, where he had the opportunity to improve his German while at the same time teaching the children English.

As well as leaving his family behind he also leaves behind a large circle of friends who have been very supportive of him serving a mission.

Michael is a fun, sociable person with a variety of interests which include music and the theatre and he has also enjoyed taking part in the local panto.

At age 18 he graduated from a seminary course in scripture study and on his return from London where he will serve his mission he will take up a place at university studying psychology.
