MOUNTAINEERING legend, Doug Scott CBE, is on the road again to raise money for charity and to share some of his most momentous tales with mountaineering lovers all over Scotland.
He will give a memorable talk entitled “Moments of Being” at the Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath on Saturday, October 27 at 7.30 pm..
Doug has reached the summit of 40 peaks. Along with his climb up the South West Face of Everest with Dougal Haston during Chris Bonington’s Expedition of 1975, he has reached the highest peaks on all seven continents - “the seven summits.”
During his current tour of Scotland he tells of his adventures with some of the world’s greatest climbers in Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Sikkim and the remote Arunachal Pradesh in North East India.
Doug will be joined by Gelong Karma Jiga, a Buddhist monk.
Doug and Jiga have worked together for many years to raise funds for the charity he set up - Community Action Nepal - which helps build schools and health centres.
Funds from this year’s tour will also support the Scottish-based community charity Nilupul Foundation.
Tickets priced £15 and concessions £12 are available from the box office on 01241 435 800.
