Brechin piano maestro Matthew Crabb has returned from the Aberdeen and North East Musical Festival with an array of awards.
The festival has a reputation for some well known adjudicators and this year was no different with the world renowned Scottish pianist Murray McLaughlin.
Matthew received some very favourable comments from Murray, who described the Reel by Rory Boyle, as one of the highlight of the festival.
Matthew entered in six classes and was first in five of them. He was awarded four outstanding awards for his playing in:
14 and under Piano solo, for which he was awarded the Alice Law prize.
The 14 and under Sonata class.
The 14 and under Repertoire class, for which he was awarded the Irene Long Memorial Trophy.
The 16 and under Bach class.
Matthew was also the winner of the 16 and under sonata class with a very good performance award.
He is now focusing on his grade eight exam and a well earned rest at the end of a busy year in music.
