Neighbourhood watch hear of scams

At the recent Brechin Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) meeting a representative from trading standards gave an update on all types of scams and doorstep crime that cause financial harm

This can take many forms from letters and e-mails to telephone calls. Some elderly and vulnerable people receive over 100 scam letters a week.

Brechin NHW said: “If something sound too good to be true, it probably is - put it in the bin.”

They advise that if a call from someone claiming to be the bank requesting bank details, it’s important remember the bank would never contact you requesting these details.
