Staff at Brechin Library are hoping to help people stick to their New Year’s resolutions, through the power of reading.
Senior library assistant Katy Hardie said: “All the staff at Brechin Library would like to wish our customers a healthy and prosperous 2015.
“Help is at hand if you wish to stick to that New Year’s Resolution! We have a great collection of Healthy Living books on subjects such as healthy eating, meditation, relaxation, yoga and much more.”
The Library also has a host of exciting new events planned for the new year. Katy explained: “We are very excited about our fabulous new Lego in the Library club which got off to a flying start on Tuesday when 17 children had fun building Lego creations.
“If you are at primary school and love to read, imagine and build then come along on the second Tuesday of every month between 3.45 and 4.45 p.m. and join in the fun.”
She continued: “We will also be hosting a Harry Potter Book Night on February 5 between 3.45 and 4.45 p.m. for children aged from eight to 10.
“This exciting event gives new and existing fans a chance to share the wonder of J.K. Rowling’s unforgettable stories and, most excitingly, to introduce the next generation of readers to the unparalleled magic of Harry Potter. You are hereby invited to embrace the magic and banish the midwinter blues!”
The library also has plenty on offer for adult readers. Katy added: “Our two adult reading groups are currently reading ‘We are all completely beside ourselves’ by Karen Joy Fowler and ‘The Lifeboat’ by Charlotte Rogan.
“There is a World War One display in the library entrance which is updated every three months to coincide with what happened at home and abroad 100 years ago.”
