The grand opening of the Dalhousie Centre Shop, formerly The Good as New Shop, will be performed by Dr Robert Martin.
The Chairman of the board will perform the opening ceremony at 11.30 am this Friday (June 5).
New signage for the store was in place last week, and the board behind the project have announced extended opening hours for the summer.
A spokesperson explained: “The Dalhousie Centre Shop will open on Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 1.30 to 4.30pm and on Saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
“This will create more opportunities for shopping than previously.”
The new hanging space has already been installed, making it much easier for shoppers to see what they are looking for.
Storage space at the rear of the shop had been extended, making life easier for the staff to sort out items for sale.
The volunteers are hoping the new layout will prompt more people to donate saleable items to encourage more customers into the premises.
With a fully-trained electrician able to PAT test any small electrical items which are donated, patrons should find more items of interest to browse through.
Dr Martin said: “It has been a monumental undertaking by Janet Penman, our secretary, and Betty Hendry and her very committed team of volunteers to get this project completed within Janet’s tight timescale.
“We owe them a massive ‘Thank You’ for all their work.
‘‘At a later date we will publish a full list of everyone who has helped get us to this stage.
“We look forward to welcoming customers old and new into the new Dalhousie Centre Shop.
“All money raised in the shop is spent supporting older people to live independently within our community for as long as is possible.”
The Board of Brechin Day Care Ltd, trading as The Dalhousie Centre, agreed to invest in a significant refurbishment to update the shop and improve its profile within the community.
Work began on May 16 to refurbish both the exterior and interior of the store.
