New contest record is set
Business Dynamics Course A group of 5th and 6th year students from Brechin High School recently attended a two-day Business Dynamics course in the Northern Hotel.
The Royal Air Force and Angus Council jointly sponsored the event. The course included a range of topics, followed by exercises that were designed to give pupils an insight into the real business world.
To complete the course, each study group was asked to make a presentation to include one of the areas focused on.
Team Three was the overall winners but everyone who attended the course was presented with a certificate. The course was very informative and was presented in a fun manner, which was enjoyed by all who attended, Hayley Wood S5.

Angus Book Award 2006 launch
Brechin High is a venue for the launch for this year's Angus Book Award on Wednesday, December 7.
The five titles short-listed for the award are:–
l Looking for JJ by Anne Cassidy.
l Icefire by Chris D'Lacey.
l Skarrs by Catherine Forde.
l TWOC by Graham Joyce.
l Web of Lies by Beverley Naidoo.
The titles chosen this year once again include a range of themes, from fantasy to powerful contemporary issues. We are particularly pleased that the number of reviews from pupils increased and their views have been reflected in the final shortlist.
Angus Book Award 2005 winning author Terence Blacker will speak about the award and what it means to him, why reading and writing by and for young people is so important and then announce and introduce the 2006 short-listed titles.
A spokesperson for the school said: "We believe the event will motivate those needing most encouragement and that pupils hearing him speak will embark on the Angus Book Award with a significantly improved positive attitude."
Brechin High, Forfar Academy, Montrose Academy and Webster's High pupils will attend the first morning session at Brechin High School from 9.30am to 10.30am.
A second launch event has been organised at Carnoustie High School from 11.25am to 12.25pm for participants from Arbroath High, Arbroath Academy, Carnoustie High, and Monifieth High.
Investment in Excellence
An event designed to help young people reach their potential took place last week. The two-day personal effectiveness programme was organised by Brechin High School on Monday and Tuesday, November 28-29.
Its aims were to raise the self esteem and self confidence of young people, raising aspirations about what can be achieved in life, and encouraging pupils to 'dream big'.
The programme explored the 'kitbag' of strategies needed by staff, parents, pupils and some members of the local community, all of whom participated over the two days – the pupils from Brechin having given up two days holiday to take part.
