The ANGUS Kiltwalk, on Sunday October 7, has three options - 26 miles from Montrose to Carnoustie - 13 “Half Kilt” miles from Ethie Castle to Carnoustie - 10 kilometre “Wee Walk” around Carnoustie.
Radio Tay presenter Gary Robinson will compere at the finishing line, supported by Carnoustie Pipe Band.
Welcoming the event, Mr Don said: “This is an extremely worthy cause with already 100 signed up for the full 26 miles. It will be great to see more local families attend even the shorter 10km wee walk round carnoustie”.
“All the proceeds are going to very valuable charities who put so much into helping sick kids so this is our opportunity to help then out with the bonus of spending some quality family time in beautiful Angus.”
The event is supported by: Liz McColgan, Radio Tay, Dundee United, Montrose FC, Carnoustie Rugby Club and the Carnoustie and Brechin Pipe Bands
Organisers hope to raise £20,000 on the day to be split between the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland, CLIC Sargent, Aberlour Child Care Trust and the Tartan Army Children’s Charity.
Several local charities and nurseries will also benefit after teams nominated them to receive 50% of the money they raise.
Carey McEvoy, founder and CEO of The Kiltwalk said: “This is our final event of 2012 and one that we’ve all been looking forward to. It’s such a scenic coastal route and the event has been supported enthusiastically by the local community”
